Simplify counsels many families in California and because of this we wanted families to be aware of a recent change from the University of CA (UC) system. Some previously approved a-g courses from providers such as Art of Problem Solving, Online G3, Homeschool Spanish Academy, Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and Language Bird are no longer a-g approved.
What’s surprising is that these are providers that many California homeschoolers rely on for wonderful classes. The a-g approval meant that homeschoolers could enroll in these classes for high school without too much stress about whether or not their coursework would be “UC approved”.
For more information on the list of providers pulled please see this University of California’s A-G Course List. We believe this list is still being updated and we recommend reaching out to the providers for more information regarding their a-g approval status.
Please remember you do not need to be too concerned about a-g approved courses to apply as a homeschooler. As always, if you have any questions about applying to the UC system as a homeschooler please reach out to us. We love to help families with UC application.
