According to the National Association of College Admissions Counseling’s (NACAC’s) State of College Admissions report for 2017, “between the Fall 2015 and Fall 2016 admission cycles, the number of applications from first-time freshmen increased 7 percent”. Also, “from Fall 2015 to Fall 2016, the number of students offered a place on an admission waitlist increased by 11 percent.”
In Part 2 to our selective admissions podcast series, we explore how the Fall 2017 admission cycle has obviously been a much more competitive year than what we’ve seen previously with so many qualified candidates denied or waitlisted then denied. The Common Application, by virtue of allowing student to apply to more colleges with one portal, has only further complicated the playing field.
