What to Ask College Admission Reps

This class will guide homeschoolers to confidently ask college admissions reps important questions by phone, email, or in person.

While many colleges publish homeschooling-specific admission requirements on their websites, there are still answers that one is only able to glean by speaking directly with admissions officers. Plus, admission officers like speaking directly to teens. Help your teens to develop the confidence necessary to ask their questions. Teens, iIf you are nervous about speaking with admissions officers or don't know what questions to ask, this is just the class for you (and your parents)! We will learn how to:

  • research college websites for readily available information
  • prepare a detailed questionnaire
  • start the call
  • use role play to address questions and situations that might come up when you are speaking on the phone or face-to-face with college reps
  • leave the experience by creating a memorable first impression.

This class is open to teens and parents. Fee: $60 per family. One 2-hour session.

Online Parent Circle

Whether you are feeling very alone in this homeschooling journey, overwhelmed by choices, or simply desperate for like-minded company, you can now join us online for our fun, conversational, and incredible comforting online group parent circles.

Every month, our secular homeschooling veteran muses will help you to fine-tune the balance that you are constantly seeking in your homeschool. This is your chance to check in regularly for advice, to learn how others cope, and how to guide your children whether you are homeschooling for just six months or the long haul.

We will go over curriculum planning, scheduling, record keeping, staying on task with checklists, creating your own mini classes, relaxed and structured homeschooling, managing expectations, planning for high school, assigning high school credits, helping gifted and 2E children soar, and so much more!

This class is open to parents only. Each session is 1.5 hours long.

Available in packages of:

  • $125 per participant for 2 sessions (3 hours)
  • $225 per participant for 4 sessions (6 hours)

Meets every fourth Friday for 1.5 hours at a time starting April 27, 2.00pm - 3.30pm Pacific time.

In-Person Parent Circles

a circle of people in a meeting

Do you live in the SF Bay Area?

This is a face-to-face support alternative to our online parent circles. We will meet for 2 hours every 3 or 4 weeks at a mutually convenient location on a weekend and in small groups. Our focus will be homeschooling guidance and college applications hand-holding but with a more personal, conversational touch (coffee optional!). The group will be led by experienced homeschoolers who have successfully homeschooled through high school. This is your chance to create your very own real-life support community.

Meets in the San Francisco Bay Area (indicate preferred location in sign up form and we will do our best to cater to this...preference will be given to those who can host the meeting).

$300 for 4 sessions (8 hours) or $165 for 2 sessions (4 hours). Payment is required upfront. Tentative Saturdays: Aug 18, Sept 15, Oct 20, and Nov 17, 2018 afternoon. We will also create a summer parent circle starting in May 2018 if there is sufficient interest.
